We revalidated our BRC and IFS Food Safety certifications

  • With a presence in 28 international markets, Goya España has held these certifications since 2012

Aware of the value that quality and food safety have for producers and consumers, the company Goya España has revalidated its certifications in the international quality standards BRC (British Retail Consortium) and IFS (International Featured Standards), in their highest scores.

Both standards are essential for agri-food companies in their expansion into international markets and to strengthen their competitiveness.

The BRC standard guarantees the safety, integrity and legality of food products throughout the entire supply chain. Goya has revalidated this certification at ‘AA’ level, which endorses its food safety management system, quality control and legal compliance, risk management and good manufacturing practices and regular audits.

The IFS standard assesses the quality and safety of food production and packaging processes. Goya España has the IFS ‘Higher level’ certification, which guarantees, among others, risk management audits, optimisation of internal processes, error reduction and improvements in traceability.

Commitment to quality and safety since 2012

The revalidation of the BRC ‘AA’ and IFS ‘Higher level’ certifications confirms Goya España’s commitment to quality, safety and sustainability.

As the General Manager of Goya España, Antonio Carrasco, confirms, “these two certifications guarantee the quality of our oils, olives and capers for our customers in the international markets in which we are present. They also guarantee our factory production processes with a significant reduction in risks, ensuring the traceability of our products”.

In its commitment to quality by combining tradition and innovation, Goya España’s production has other quality certifications UNE-EN ISO9001, environmental UNE-EN ISO 14001; Kosher certification; CTPAT; and the organic production certifications USDA Organics, JAS Certification (Japan) and CAAE (EU).

Likewise, in terms of quality seals, Goya extra virgin olive oils have the Monde Selection seal, as well as the ChefBest, NAOOA, Laur Konsumenta and iTQi seals

Direct commercial advantages

The renewal of the BRC and IFS certifications is an important commercial boost for Goya España. These accreditations facilitate access to international distribution chains that demand this type of certification to work with suppliers. In addition, they generate immediate confidence among international customers and buyers, by guaranteeing that production processes comply with the strictest food safety standards.

Compared to the competition, they represent a clear differential advantage, as they position the company as a more reliable and valued option, even allowing for improved commercial conditions. They also reinforce the reputation of the brand, as they are recognised as a seal of prestige that only the most committed and organised companies can achieve. At an internal level, achieving and maintaining these standards also means continuous improvement in management, documentation, hygiene and staff training, which translates into greater efficiency and less margin for error.
