We celebrate World Olive Tree Day every November 26th. Every November 26th we celebrate World Olive Tree Day. From Goya Spain, this year our tribute to the olive tree has a special value, as our GOYA® Extra Virgin Olive Oils have been awarded more than 500 prizes in international competitions since their first participation in a contest in 2014.
These more than 500 awards achieved in the year that Goya España celebrates its 50th anniversary reinforce our commitment to quality and the promotion of extra virgin olive oil of Spanish origin.
Main awards
GOYA® Unico, with a total of 164 awards, is ranked 5th in the World’s Best Olive Oils 2024 international ranking, with awards such as the silver medal in the light green fruity category of the Ovibeja competition; 2nd finalist in the Mario Solinas Quality Awards in the bottlers’ category and the Leone D’Oro International Blend. Unico has also won platinum medals in London, Canada and Istanbul, gold medals in the NYIOOC, Los Angeles IOOC, CINVE, Zurich, China or Japan (Olive Japan, and Japan Olive Oil), Olivinus, and 3rd prize in the category of Bitter Green Fruity / medium spicy at Argoliva (Argentina), among others.
GOYA® Organics, with a total of 156 awards, has been recognized as the best blend of Spain 2024, according to the IberOluem Guide and Top 100 of the best EVOOs Evooleum Awards. Organics also won an extra gold medal at the Biol Prize; Goccia D’Oro at the AVPA awards in Paris; gold medal and Top 1 and best organic EVOO and best oil in Spain at the Brazil IOOC; and gold medal in Australia.
GOYA® Robusto and Virgen Extra olive oils, with 87 and 52 awards, also have been recognized in the main national and international competitions.
In terms of flavored extra virgin olive oils, Goya España has two varieties: GOYA® Garlic, with a natural garlic aroma, and GOYA® Truffle, with a natural truffle aroma. Garlic, with a total of 48 awards since 2020, was the most awarded flavored oil according to the EVOOWR 2023 ranking; meanwhile, in its first-year present in competitions, the GOYA® Truffle has won a total of 12 awards.
As confirmed by Antonio Carrasco, general manager of Goya España, “the more than 500 awards won by our EVOOs in this decade are the result of a year of intense work promoting the quality of our extra virgin olive oils worldwide”.

Since UNESCO approved it in 2019, every November 26 is celebrated as World Olive Tree Day, as a universal symbol of peace, wisdom and harmony. It was an initiative presented by the delegations of Lebanon and Tunisia, who prepared a document demonstrating the importance and longevity of the olive tree as a natural element, a proposal supported by the International Olive Council.
On World Olive Tree Day we promote the protection and preservation of this millenary tree, as well as its importance in environmental sustainability. It is also a special day to recognize the contribution of the olive grove and its by-products as pillars of the Mediterranean Diet.
The olive groves of Andalusia enclose the essence and origin of our oils and olives. From Goya Spain we celebrate World Olive Day by consuming the juice of its olives, our Goya olive oils, recognized with more than 500 international awards.
