As part of the 50th anniversary celebrations, Goya España has sponsored the publication of the book “The olive tree. Around the world” (Editorial El Viso). This work, created by Eduardo Mencos Valdés and Charles Quest-Ritson, takes a tour of 26 countries through a fascinating historical and photographic journey that explores the influence of the olive tree in the history of mankind.
“The Olive Tree. Around the World”, thus collects the ideas of both authors after traveling around the world discovering the different types of trees. Their idea was to explore and discover “the infinite soul” of a sacred tree that is mentioned hundreds of times in the Bible and is venerated in all religions. A tree that is considered essential for the entire Mediterranean culture and especially for Spain, considered the world’s leading power in its cultivation.
On November 15, this work was presented at the Archivo de Indias in Seville, with the participation of its director, Esther Cruces Blanco, and the professor of the University Pablo de Olavide, Antonio J. López.
From here we want to share a small tour through the olive groves of the world.
